The Egg Man, was originally a portrait commission so once the portrait in oils on canvas was ready, created a unique frame for it using gypsum coated wooden mouldings I bought in Greece, applied gold leaf over a warm red undercoat and painted over that to create a patina or surface texture so it became part of the painting in effect. A year after delivering it to my client, I was surprised to see it still hadn't been hung, so offered to replace it with a traditionally framed en-face portrait!
